Swaplogic Scenarios
There really aren't any limits on how you can use Swaplogic, but for fun and to get your creative juices flowing, we've drafted a few fictional scenarios that describe opportunities for everyday people to use Swaplogic to their benefit. Any similarities to real people are purely coincidental. Enjoy.

Scenario #1: Paul, the Plumber
Paul realized that he could used Swaplogic to grow his business by showing everyone that he was accountable for his actions. He is great at what he does, and he's proud of it, so he embraces the opportunity to bring his word of mouth referrals to a larger audience, like the viewers and members of Swaplogic. Paul has taken the following steps to grow his business on Swaplogic:

Step 1: Create a profile so that he can be found on Swaplogic

Paul creates a profile on Swaplogic. He enters his registration information that includes his occupation and the address of his business, which is in San Diego. Automatically, this links his profile to people searching for plumbers in the San Diego area. In the profile, Paul decides to tell people that he specializes in complex plumbing renovations that include lead pipe removal and replacement in older homes. Since Paul has a profile, Swaplogic Members can contact him directly, or simply draft a contract for Paul that tells him about the reno project that they'd like him to give them a quote on.

End Result: Swaplogic viewers know that Paul is in business in San Diego, and that he specializes in reno projects for older homes.

Step 2: Find New Business

Paul is aggressively seeking new business opportunities, so he searches the Swaplogic database for Asks created by people looking for plumbing services in the San Diego area. Every few days, a new Ask is posted by a member on Swaplogic, and Paul responds by drafting a contract with his quote on the services requested. Paul also creates Bids on Swaplogic, which are essentially standing offers to give quotes on plumbing services in San Diego. Viewers respond to the Bids by creating an Invite to receive a contract quote from Paul.

End Result: Paul builds his business in two ways. First he finds people that are looking for a tradesman like him by searching for Asks in the San Diego area, and second, he tells people that he is available for creating quotes on jobs by creating Bids.

Step 3: Source Raw Materials

Paul is always looking to get better prices on the raw materials that he uses in his jobs. So he decides to post an Ask requesting prices on materials like pipes and fittings. Paul finds out that there is a building materials supplier in his area, named Jeff, with a Swaplogic profile as well and he offers Paul a great deal on all of the fittings he needs. Paul knows that Jeff is a legit businessman because he has a Track Record of 100 satisfied customers who have contracts with him to buy fittings every month.

End Result: Paul saves time and money for himself and his customers by doing business with people that are upfront and accountable in their actions, and compete for his business.

Step 4: Follow-up with Clients

Every time Paul drafts a contract to do a job for a client on Swaplogic, he has to exchange feedback with them on the job. Paul takes 'before' and 'after' pictures of the job (with his customer's explicit permission, of course) to add to his portfolio and uploads them to Swaplogic so that people can see he has done a great job. Paul's clients also leave feedback, including the 'pros and cons' of the services he offers after Paul is done and he can make his business better by taking that feedback and making sure that he makes the appropriate adjustments to his business. Sometimes, they upload images and video talking about the great work he's done, showing more proof that he's a highly qualified professional. Paul also leaves feedback on his customer, by attesting that they were very easy to work for and paid for the services on time.

End Result: Paul's business and expertise continues to get better and grow. Paul's reputation for accountability extends to another client and he has one more happy client in his Track Record.

Step 5: Build a Track Record

Every time Paul creates a contract on Swaplogic between himself an a customer, he adds another event to his Track Record. Every time he gets good feedback on his performance, he has another referencable customer to add to his portfolio. Swaplogic viewers can review the type, complexity and outcomes of jobs that Paul has been involved in, and they can confirm that he's the kind of guy they're looking for.

End Result: Paul's reputation continues to grow and before long, he is known as the premier plumber in the San Diego area for jobs in his niche!

Scenario #2: Jill, the NYU Student
Jill is a pretty creative and smart girl. She proved that by landing her dream internship at a major fashion magazine in NYC for the summer. She can't wait to tell everyone about it, but she wants to use the same creativity that she used to get the job to tell the story about her experience. Here's what she did, with a little help from Swaplogic:

Create an Autobiographical journal complete with rich Multimedia

Every week, Jill sits down and jots down some notes about her week in review. She snaps pictures and video of all of the fashion shows and events that she has attended using her cell phone and uploads them to Swaplogic to add to her Multimedia Gallery. One week, her manager gave her a special project where she could attend the Versace fashion show and he was to assist in an interview with the designer of the Fall line! She decided to take some initiative and get some candid comments from the runway models on video clips and she uploaded those to Swaplogic as well.

At the end of every week, Jill sat down and composed a Biography Event about her experiences in those 7 days. She used the video and pictures she took to add some flair to her Bios. Every week, her friends checked her Swaplogic profile to see what she was up to and what famous people she met in the past week. They all left comments congratulating her on her success. To Jill's surprise, her manager even composed a Biography entry for her in Jill's Swaplogic profile on her behalf (yes, you can write Bio's about other people on Swaplogic) where she thanked Jill for her effort at the magazine. That was Jill's first real Journalism work reference. She'll be sure to point show her future potential employers the comments from her last manager!

Scenario #3: Andy, the screw-up
OK, so Andy's not that bad a guy, he just screws up sometimes, and his friends love him despite this quirkiness. In fact, most of them feel its what makes him such a unique friend. His latest blunder included forgetting to feed Anna's fish, and not surprisingly, it died. Now, every life is precious, including that of a fish, but this life was slightly more precious than the average $0.99 Goldfish... this was a rare Sapo Puffer Fish... retailing for as much as $150! Andy felt terrible, so he immediately went to Swaplogic to look for a solution.

Andy found two rare fish dealers in his search on Swaplogic, amazingly enough, both in same city as Andy! One dealer, named Jimmy's Cheap Fish, offered a puffer fish using a Bid on Swaplogic for $19.95 with no guarantee on the lifespan of the fish, and another, The Fine Fish Emporium, that was selling a puffer through a Bid on Swaplogic for $150, with guaranteed replacement for up to 1 year. Andy, took at look at both of their profiles, and although Jimmy had pretty good feedback on the sales that he completed, he had grown a reputation for having a few fish die pretty quickly after the sale. Still feeling the financial pinch of his other recent blunders, Andy decided to buy the fish from Jimmy's. He picked up the fish and everything was set for Anna's fish to be replaced by the new puffer fish. When Anna saw the new fish, having a minor in Marine Biology, she knew right away that it was an imposter. Not only that, but the imposter barely made it through the week before it was found floating at the top of the tank due to a gill inflammation that was common to fish residing in less than stellar tanks like those at Jimmy's Cheap Fish.

Andy filed feedback on his transaction with Jimmy's Cheap Fish, and although he wasn't pleased about the outcome of the transaction, he knew he had to be honest and admit that he knew that he was getting what he paid for, and that although Jimmy delivered a fish that was in poor health, he still lived up to his end of the Contract created on Swaplogic.

In response to Andy's most recent blunder, Anna decided she was going to draft a Swaplogic Contract with Andy where he would promise to buy a new fish for her, from a reputable dealer, before the end of the month. Andy reluctantly accepted the Contract from Anna.

In an effort to redeem himself and prove he was accountable to his actions, Andy decided to contact The Fine Fish Emporium, and buy the puffer fish from them. Andy drafted a contract with Fine Fish, and they delivered a fantastically healthy new puffer fish, which Anna took in as though it were the original. Andy filed feedback on Fine Fish, as did they, and both parties were happy. Anna filed feedback on her promise with Andy, and he redeemed himself again, at least, until his next blunder...
